Who is Ryan?
Ryan MacLatchie is an award-winning marketing and change management professional who moonlights as a standup comedian, social media host, and armchair sports fan. He delights in forming genuine relationships using thoughtful hospitality and a desire to help his connections get the most out of life.
A jack of all trades and a master of only a few, Ryan isn’t afraid to try something new. Whether it’s experimenting with a recipe, learning an emerging technology, or planning an epic road trip, Ryan believes every day can be an adventure. His social media mantra, “Do the side quests,” is a purposeful reminder that the small, mundane tasks in life can bring immense joy if you keep an open mind and add a dash of creativity.
Do the side quests.
Side quests are optional tasks or missions that players can undertake in addition to the main storyline of a video game.
Purpose:
Additional Content: They offer more gameplay and exploration opportunities beyond the core narrative.
Rewards: Completing side quests can yield valuable items, experience points, or other benefits.
World-Building: They can provide deeper insights into the game's lore, characters, and setting.
Relationship to Main Quests:
Side quests are usually independent of the main storyline, meaning players can complete them in any order and without affecting the main quest's progression.
Real Life Application:
The term "side quest" can also be used in a non-gaming context to refer to any activity or task that is done in addition to a primary focus.
We all have major life milestones in our “core narrative” we want to achieve such as landing a dream job, getting married, buying a house, or starting a family, but we often take for granted all of the tiny decisions and opportunities to exercise our free will that make the journey fun. Be intentional about not taking life too seriously and sprinkling in some fun when you can.
